“Lamu, is an archipelago of small islands off the north-eastern end of the Kenyan coast. Arabic and local coastal are the cultures here. Old 18th century stone houses, huge intricately carved doors and hanging balconies, women dressed in traditional black bui-buis and fishing dhows with huge triangular sails are some of the trademarks of this island. The biggest attraction however is the unspoilt culture and atmosphere of busy days of the past. The narrow streets are usually busy with donkeys which take the place of cars and it will be interesting to note that there is only 1 car on the entire island. A city tour of this island will be fulfilling” You will spend the following night at your hotel. After settling in, you will be guided through the narrow streets of Lamu as you tour town. Another option is proceed to visit by motorboat, either the Manda Toto or Matondoni where the traditional sailing dhows are made. Rest of the day at leisure in the hotel.
